Sunfilm was founded at the end of 2006 with the goal of becoming the first company to produce tandem junction thin film silicon photovoltaic modules on ultra-large substrates, up to 5.7 m² in size.
Sunfilm is committed to producing the highest performing tandem junction thin film silicon modules by:
• working with its suppliers to select the best components and processes,
• continuously improving and optimizing all aspects of the manufacturing,
• continually investing in R&D to further enhance the product performance.
The company is located in Groβröhrsdorf, about 30 km east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. There, Sunfilm is building its first production line in a 22,000 m² facility with an annualized capacity of over 60MWp. The production line is being delivered by Applied Materials, Inc, Santa Clara, CA, USA (www.appliedmaterials.com) and is the first of this level of advanced technology and capacity.
It is Sunfilm’s goal to become a leading, global supplier of thin film based modules that are unsurpassed in value and performance. To achieve this goal, Sunfilm is backed by its main shareholders, Good Energies (www.goodenergies.com) and Norsun (www.norsuncorp.no). Both are renowned and experienced companies in the PV world, with strong connections throughout the whole renewable energy industry.
